How important are new windows when it comes to saving energy

One of the parts of the home that is looked at the most but often overlooked are the windows.  What do I mean by that? Well we use windows everyday to bring in light or to look outside. But the thing that we ignore about it is that sometimes it is already too old and it may have been costing us money already.  So we are going to look at ways that you can avoid wasting money with your windows.

First and foremost you must know what kind of windows you have in your home.  I tell all my prospective clients of my San Diego window replacement service to check their windows.I would want them to tell me if their windows are single paned or double paned.  If they are single paned you are wasting so much money and need to get them replaced immediately.

So how can single paned windows cost you money? Because they aren’t energy efficient.  In the summer they keep your home warmer making you need more air conditioning. And during the cold season you would need more heating because the windows cannot retain the heat. So in both seasons you are using more energy then you need to be using.  The customers of my glass company San Diego are shocked to find this out but it is true. That is why installing enrgy efficient windows can save you a lot of money.

This may also be the case with your bathrooms although it may sound strange. You may save more on energy costs if you have a glass shower.  That is shocking to my clients of my San Diego frameless glass shower doors service as well.  But installing glass showers may give you more savings on energy.

So there you have the reasons why you are wasting money with older windows. So if you still have single paned windows in your houses you must replace them immediately.  It will save you money in the long run.

Benefits of getting new windows for your house

One thing about most people is when they spend money they look at it as a cost. And that is actually true for most of the time. But there are times when spending money is not really an expenditure but an investment.  One of those ways that people have a hard time looking at as an investment are replacment windows. In this article we will point out a couple of ways that it is a great investment.

First thing why new windows can be considered an investment is because it can save you a lot on energy expenses.  With my San Diego window replacement company I try to emphasize that a lot.  People don’t realize old windows usually waste a lot of energy. Because in the summer it gets hot so you use more air conditioning. In the winter it gets colder so you use more heater. While new windows can keep the temperature in mild conditions. This will enable you to save a lot on energy costs.

The next reason why we can consider new windows to be an investment is because it can help in raising the value of your homes.  When we do a home with our glass company in San Diego we see first hand how it does this. Usually if a client tries to sell their home it improves the value of their home.  Mainly because people know it saves energy. And it also looks nicer.

So there goes some of the great investments for your house.Another good investment for your house is a frameless glass shower.  With my San Diego frameless glass shower doors company whenever we install a glass shower we see immediate improvement in the home.It can improve the house in terms of looks and the value of the house itself.

Hopefully, you will realize that spending money sometimes can be an investment and not just waste of money. You can spend it on a very good investment if you just spend it wisely. In this economy you need to find wise ways to spend your money.Or you might as well throw your money away.

Tax Credit 2009 & Replacement Window Companies

Filed under: General — Tags: — admin @ 9:44 pm

say you want to benefit from the tax credit passed by congress not very long ago then take a few minutes to read this article. I will mention some important facts to consider when dealing with a contractor.

I have previously shared on various topics such as:window replacement company review, window saving companies and top window replacement companies.

Some replacement window firms will not help you in knowing the tax credit benefit when planning on replacing your windows. This article has been written to try and help you understand the very basics and to be in a better position to deal with any contractor.

The tax credit benefit passed to people who fit energy efficient windows has always been there. However, recently the benefit was tripled to 30% of the cost of an energy efficient window. Whilst it also applies to doors my focus is mainly on windows for now.

What this means is that when choosing the replacement windows for your home you have to pick carefully. normally replacement window companies play a significant role in assisting homeowners in this regard hence the need to find the right contractor.

Some of the you should know include the specific conditions that make a window be called energy efficient. This includes, the new energy start certification, the U-Factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC), NFRC Rating and more. NFRC stands for National Fenestration Rating Council. One thing I can sayhere is that if a window does not have the NFRC sticker then chances are it is unlikely to be energy efficient.

When working with replacement window companies or contractors, always ask them to show you the sticker. If they cannot do so don’t buy their recommended window and do not employ their services. There are plenty more companies that you can try and hire. So to take advantage of the tax credit benefit in 2009 you need to be a smart shopper.
